This area is known as one of the best areas in the U.S. for mineral and gem collecting. We follow the traditional trail of the Native American Ute Tribe out of Salida and into Manitou Springs. By special premission we look to collect precious gems and minerals to add to your personal collection, including peridot, epidote, quartz, gold mica, pink feldspar, pyrite, hematite, and marble. Some of the areas we will explore contain evidence of Native American archeaological sites in the form of teepee rings and a buffalo jump. Things like these are not collectable, so BRING YOUR CAMERA to record the memories, the views, and the smiles! |
